Keynote Presentation: Opportunities for Industrial IoT in Sustainable Manufacturing
K-01
Dr. Michelle Lynch
Director
Enabled Future Limited
The presentation will look at the many ways in which the Industrial Internet of Things can help to improve sustainability in industrial operations. A review of current and developing technologies in both established multi-nationals and start-ups will be presented showing how these technologies are likely to help and a roadmap for the next 20 years. Two case studies will be used to highlight development- the first in recycling operations and the second in bio based chemicals manufacture.

Keynote: A Plant Manager’s Guide to Securing the IIoT
K-03
Tom Gilheany
Portfolio Manager of Security Training and Certification
Cisco
As industrial networks interconnect with enterprise networks, information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) are interacting in ways never seen before. In addition, the massive surge in the number and type of connected devices and machines presents challenges to OT, IT and security teams. Digital organizations need a new approach to tackling security. How will tomorrow’s plant manager identify and develop the right strategies to tackle Cybersecurity challenges head-on and proactively prepare these teams to mitigate risks in the future? In this presentation, Tom Gilheany will demonstrate strategies to address Cybersecurity risk on the connected manufacturing plant floor. He will share techniques that the plant manager can use to prepare teams for tomorrow’s security challenges.

Keynote: Bridging the OT/IT Gap With A Real-Time IIoT Gateway
K-04
Wil Florentino
Sr. Mgr. Industrial Automation Segment
Renesas Electronics
In a factory IIoT application, the challenge is in bridging the OT domain with IT enterprise to represent relevant and usable data for the business case. Many current ‘edge’ gateways focus on IT data models or hardware tailored to enterprise systems, but do not consider low-level, embedded systems with their memory constraints and latency requirements. Understanding the domain differences and how to bridge this gap will be key to a successful IIoT implementation. This talk will explore those challenges and the concept of a real-time IoT gateway that can function between these two domains much more seamlessly to bridge these OT and IT domains.

General Session: Industrial Block Chain
GS-01
Dr. Claudio Lima
Co Chair Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Energy/Utility/Oil & Gas
IIC Industrial Internet Consortium
Let’s face the realities of IoT in the field. A lot of things have to talk to other things and systems in order to gain efficiencies and bring data into the systems that provide analytics. At the core is an assumption of trust. Blockchain represents an area where trust can be established and transferred to enable dynamic data and analytic processing. This session looks at Blockchain and recent advances in Secure Data-Driven Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) for the Energy industry.

Bill Brown
Innovative Technology Leader
Rheem Manufacturing
The history of buildings is often one of development without consideration of energy utilization. The systems are there to monitor and manage, but they are not there to control and ensure efficiency. Bill Brown looks at how to deliver on the promise of sustainability and savings.

Hardware Optimization for your IoT Solutions
GS-04
Sean Priddy
Business Development Director - Design
Creation Technologies
Most of the IoT hype is about how billions of devices will generate huge data streams that must be communicated, stored, and analyzed to provide operational visibility and insights using machine learning and AI over time large data sets. However, often neglected is that actual hardware is required to gather sensor data, process the data, react to the data, and communicate the data over a network to other devices or to the cloud. Frequently, emerging IoT solutions require the development of specialized hardware to accommodate various environmental, processing, localized storage, power, and networking requirements. Learn how to make the appropriate technical choices so that your hardware is optimized for your IoT solution.

Making Workplaces Safer with IoT
GS-07
Ted Smith
CEO and President
Corvex Connected Safety
Digital transformation is occurring rapidly in most industries, and yet workplace safety continues to lag behind in terms of processes and connectivity. Ironically, the ROI of real-time, contextual data gathered and managed as part of a connected safety strategy is both massive and immediate – and in some cases, life-saving. Using IoT technology to integrate workers within a connected safety environment also yields rewards that go beyond injury prevention and reduced costs. The power of an engaged workforce where safety is concerned can result in tremendous enhancements to productivity, increased operational efficiencies, stronger training metrics and even greater worker recruitment and retention.
